Training for the Disney Marathon - Part 17 -Packet Pick-up

In these final weeks before the race, communication from RunDisney will begin to pick up.  Pay very close attention.  Read the e-mails and save them.  Don’t forget to print and bring everything you need.

I will admit I probably go overboard, but after all these months of training for a sold out event I just want to make sure I have everything.  Make sure and bring your race waiver that RunDisney will instruct you to print out.  You will need your race waiver and ID to pick up your race bib.

In the past RunDisney has done an amazing job of getting you parked at the Wide World of Sports area by providing great directional signage and informed volunteers.  Once you park, follow the crowd and know that the expo and packet pickup locations are different.  Follow the signs to packet pickup.  Packet pickup for me has always been painless.  It has always been very quick.

If for some reason you lose your waiver there is usually a place to print it off.  Once you pick up your number, just know they are not done with you.  They really want you to go to the expo.  So, in order to get your shirt you are going to the expo.  However, as we talked about last week just enjoy the expo and take in the moment.

Disney in general does a great job parking cars, directing people and moving crowds.  For this experience it is not any different.  RunDisney does a fantastic job of getting you in and out and it is a painless process.

With the race getting so close, it is a good time to plan some of the things you might forget.  As we get this close to race day I like to begin keeping a list of things I want to remember. 

  • Confirmation numbers
  • Packing lists
  • Contact numbers
  • Race waivers
  • Little items (I might forget at last minute)

Keep a list on the fridge at home and write these things down as you think of them.  What are those things you would hate to forget?

It is almost race weekend!  3 weeks away!
